South Australian Science Excellence Awards
The South Australian Science Excellence Awards recognise and reward EXCELLENCE IN SCIENCE and acknowledge commitment and skill in raising public awareness of science.
These prestigious awards are seen as the premier science showcase event in South Australia and aim to highlight the diversity of scientific research, and facilitate a better understanding of the ways in which research is linked to the development of new technologies and products. They also highlight the relationship between research and development and the ‘knowledge economy’.
Award categories
Awards are presented in the following categories:
- South Australian Scientist of the Year
- South Australian Young Tall Poppy
- Science Educator of the Year
- Excellence in Research for Commercial Benefit
- Excellence in Research for Public Good Benefit
- Constellation SA Award for Excellence in Collaborative Research
The Government of South Australia has made a commitment to science, technology and innovation through its Ten-Year Vision for Science, Technology and Innovation (STI10) and the South Australian Strategic Plan.
This commitment along with a greater focus on strategic alliances will continue to heighten the awareness and profile of the Awards.
Strategic alliances with the Tall Poppy Campaign, Constellation SA and National Science Week will continue to raise the prestige of the Campaign, plus provide a greater opportunity to achieve relevant targets in South Australia’s Strategic Plan.
